Setup

Attach a straight bar or handle to the low pulley of a cable machine. Stand facing the machine with an underhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart.

How to perform

  1. Keeping your elbows pinned to your sides, curl the bar up towards your chest.
  2. Squeeze the biceps at the top.
  3. Slowly lower the bar back to the starting position.

Form cues

  • Keep your upper body still.
  • Only your forearms should move.
  • Control the eccentric phase (the lowering).

Common mistakes

  • Swinging the torso to create momentum.
  • Letting the elbows flare out or drift forward.
  • Dropping the weight instead of controlling the descent.
