Setup
Set a handle to the lowest position on a cable machine. Stand with your side to the machine, feet shoulder-width apart. Grab the handle with your farthest hand. Take a step away from the machine to create tension on the cable.
How to perform
- Raise your arm out to the side, keeping it straight with a slight bend in the elbow.
- Continue until your arm is parallel to the floor.
- Pause briefly at the top.
- Slowly lower the handle back to the starting position.
Form cues
- Keep your torso still; avoid using momentum.
- Lead with the elbow.
- Keep your wrist straight.
Common mistakes
- Swinging the weight up.
- Lifting the arm higher than parallel.
- Using torso momentum to lift the weight.
