Setup

Sit down on the machine with your back and head against the padded support. Place your feet on the platform about shoulder-width apart.

How to perform

  1. Release the safety catches and press the platform away by extending your knees and hips. Push through your heels.
  2. Slowly lower the platform until your knees are bent at around a 90-degree angle, without your lower back lifting from the pad.
  3. Press the weight back up to the starting position.

Form cues

  • Keep your back and hips flat against the seat at all times.
  • Do not lock out your knees at the top of the movement.
  • Maintain controlled movement, both on the way up and down.
  • Ensure your knees track in line with your feet.

Common mistakes

  • Lifting your hips off the pad (butt wink).
  • Knees caving inwards.
  • Using a partial range of motion.
  • Locking the knees at the top.
